Well… that didn’t quite go to plan.
The original goal was all 10 Munros in the Mamores. Unfortunately, I injured my leg on the very first ascent. With the route I’d chosen there wasn’t really an easy way out, so I made the decision to push on. Somehow, I still managed another five summits before calling it.
I also bivvied on the summit of Binnein Beag (943 m), which made for an unforgettable night in the clouds.
The six Munros completed were:
- Binnein Beag – 943 m
- Sgùrr Eilde Mòr – 1,010 m
- Binnein Mòr – 1,130 m
- Na Gruagaichean – 1,056 m
- Stob Coire a’ Chàirn – 981 m
- An Gearanach – 982 m
Stats:
- 19 miles
- 8,171 ft of elevation
- 9 hours 34 minutes of walking
Not the result I was aiming for, but sometimes the mountain has the final say. The leg is pretty swollen, so it’s time to rest up, recover, and come back to finish the remaining four another day.
