The date is now set.

On Saturday 1st August 2026, I will be holding a one-day Grade 1 scramble over the Cairn Mor Dearg Arete (CMD Arete), with the summit of Ben Nevis included.

Due to the nature of this route, the terrain involved, and the importance of keeping the group safe and manageable, I will be starting small with a maximum of four participants. To take part in this event, please complete the form here:

Mamores 10 when it all goes wrong

Well… that didn’t quite go to plan.

The original goal was all 10 Munros in the Mamores. Unfortunately, I injured my leg on the very first ascent. With the route I’d chosen there wasn’t really an easy way out, so I made the decision to push on. Somehow, I still managed another five summits before calling it.

I also bivvied on the summit of Binnein Beag (943 m), which made for an unforgettable night in the clouds.

The six Munros completed were:

  • Binnein Beag – 943 m
  • Sgùrr Eilde Mòr – 1,010 m
  • Binnein Mòr – 1,130 m
  • Na Gruagaichean – 1,056 m
  • Stob Coire a’ Chàirn – 981 m
  • An Gearanach – 982 m

Stats:

  • 19 miles
  • 8,171 ft of elevation
  • 9 hours 34 minutes of walking

Not the result I was aiming for, but sometimes the mountain has the final say. The leg is pretty swollen, so it’s time to rest up, recover, and come back to finish the remaining four another day.

West Highland Way 3 Day Exped for veterans

West Highland Way – Last Minute Opportunity

Veterans Expedition Project:

https://gofund.me/b574789b1

I’m heading to Glasgow this evening and expect to arrive around 10-11pm, with the plan to start walking the West Highland Way tonight. I’ll be completing the route over the next 3–4 days.

This trip is primarily for business purposes, gathering photographs, GPS data, and route information for future expeditions and guided experiences through GI Guides. As the route will become part of our future offerings, this is also an opportunity to assess the trail, logistics, accommodation options, and overall experience firsthand.

For this trip, I’m opening the opportunity to anyone within my friends network who may want to join me and complete the West Highland Way alongside someone with extensive outdoor and expedition experience.

Anyone outside of my immediate circle would need to be an experienced hiker, comfortable with consecutive long-distance days and carrying their own equipment.

If you’ve been looking to complete the West Highland Way and think you’d be a good fit, send me a message.

Night Cat Tent

Tested out the NightCat one-man tent last night after a climb and honestly impressed. Just 1kg, no poles, uses pegs and a walking pole setup which keeps it ridiculously compact and lightweight. Properly decent space inside and handled the night well. Only downside… the midges absolutely declared war on me. Slept well, got eaten alive. 😂

Now available in the GI Guides store at a significantly better price than most other retailers.
