Outdoor Rock Climbing Work Shop
Description
Our introductory session at Benny Beg provides a solid foundation in
safe, effective sport climbing. Participants are guided through
essential skills in a supportive environment, ensuring they feel
confident as they take their first steps on real rock.
Key Learning Outcomes
Safe use of equipment
Participants learn how to correctly fit a harness, helmet, and other
personal climbing equipment, along with carrying out partner safety
checks before leaving the ground.
Core climbing movement
Instruction covers fundamental hand and foot placements, balance, and
body positioning. Climbers are introduced to efficient movement
techniques that help them progress smoothly on rock.
Figure‑of‑eight knot
Everyone is taught how to tie and check the rethreaded figure‑of‑eight
knot, the standard tie‑in knot used in sport climbing.
Belaying (where appropriate)
Depending on the group and session progress, participants may also learn
the basics of belaying, including how to manage the rope safely and
lower a climber under supervision.
